There are NO SPOILERS in any of my reviews, so read on without fear! The point of each of my reviews is not so much to provide a synopsis of the story or an in-depth literary look at the work itself, but to convey my overall impression of the book, as well as the feelings/attitudes I experienced while reading and the thoughts the book provoked. I understand that my life experiences are different from others’, and my reviews and opinions reflect the upbringing I’ve had. Review #4 Audio The Count of Monte Cristo narrated by Bill HomewoodĭISCLAIMER: I am an American, college-educated male in my mid-20’s. Review #3 Audiobook The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas Then the final third of the book kicks into high gear and the revenge plot unfolds and all you can do is keep reading page after page until the end. Essentially Monte Cristo is planning and scheming his revenge on the people who betrayed him, but it isn’t really clear what he’s doing. I even had to put it down for a couple months. The second third of the book kinda lost me for a bit. You really feel for Dantes as all these awful things happen to him simply because of jealousy and corruption. The first third of the book starts out fast and exciting. Review #2 The Count of Monte Cristo audiobook Series The Seaside Library Spend the extra money for a better version. In reading other reviews, I am told that the Penguin Classic translation is much, much better and after reading the examples provided, I see it is better. In any case, some of the sentence structures are flat out bizarre and confusing. The original was written in French and the Kindle version I read appears to have been translated by an automated service, with maybe some manual human intervention. My only caution is that I would make sure to pick a version with a good translation. So I encourage everyone to read this book as you will not be disappointed. And after having read it, I wholeheartedly agree. |a Action and adventure fiction.Review #1 The Count of Monte Cristo audiobook freeįor many years, I’ve read comments about how the Count of Monte Cristo was one of the best books ever written.
